Every year around April-May, the labels pump out a ton of new music.  Why?

Because they’re prepping for summertime!

Think back to some of the big hits for the summer.. Usher – Yeah, Beyonce – Crazy In Love, etc, etc…

They all come out at around this time of year.

I figure that if all goes to plan, I can finally hang up my DJ side of me by the end of the year.  If you didn’t know, I don’t actually do this DJ thing for a living.  It truly is a labor of love, and one that I enjoy very much.

So what was the point of this mix?  We’re giving out a few of these CD’s at the long weekend party coming up on Sunday!

Wow, it’s been pretty crazy lately.  Lot’s going on in the background.  But I am looking forward to a couple of very special events.

For those of you who know, I’m very passionate about a couple of causes.  One of them is HanVoice.   I’ll be spinning an fundraiser for them.  Proceeds go to HanVoice and feeding starving children in North Korea.  Please spread the word!

Hi everyone!

What an amazing weekend of weather we’re having here in Toronto.   Earlier this week, we had a nasty amount of crap being dumped on us.  Now I’m looking outside and I see nothing but sunshine!

If you didn’t know already, there’s a big party that I’m blessed to be a part of happening.  The Docks!  Yes!!!

I’ll be spinning the early set because… well.. I want to enjoy the night too!

DJ Lyon – Kollaboration 2009

WOW!

Why do I say that?

Because it has been an absolutely crazy few weeks.  The dayjob has me super busy, the stuff I do on the side (Hanvoice!) has been busy, and the DJ’n?

Yikes.

Kollaboration was crazy.  A lot of people came out to support, and the feedback was amazing.

If you don’t know, Kollaboration is a show that provides an opportunity to showcase some of the most talented youths in our community.

My involvement this year was small, but I’m still glad to be able to say I was about to help out!

So if you take a look at the beginning, you can see me on stage DJ’n.  Yeah, that’s pretty much my contribution to the show.

Ok, so here’s what happened with this thing..

I actually wanted to get it out about 4 months ago.  As I started working on it back then, it just didn’t “feel” right..  I don’t have enough time to pump out mixes on the regular, so these mixes tend to be a little more personal.

It got to a point where I just said “screw it” and I dumped the entire project..  I started all over from scratch.  One of the songs that got cut were Chris Isaak – Wicked Game..

I changed things up, got some input from some people, and decided to flip the entire thing around.  I restarted this thing in about Mid January.. and well, it’s done now.

It’s been forever, but I’ve decided to finally get off my ass and do something about djlyon.com.

For those of you who don’t know who I am, here’s some background info.

What music do you spin? A little bit of everything.  Mostly Top 40 stuff, but a lot of emphasis on urban music (R&B/HipHop/Reggae), and more house than most people recognize.

• DJ AM:  I love his sound.
• DJ BabyYu:  One of my best friends in the scene, and I’ll always be a supporter.
• DJ Jr.Flo:  He’s sick, and different.  If you’ve never heard him go hard, you’ve missed out.
